Rubens Daughters of Leucippus Skateboard Triptych
Peter Paul Rubens painted The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus around 1617–1618. The mythological scene shows Castor and Pollux, the divine twins, abducting the daughters of the Leucippus king. Rubens was interested in the formal challenge: two horsemen, two women, and two horses — all in violent motion — resolved into a stable, almost circular composition. The original hangs at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.
