Wall Damage from Skateboard Mounts: Prevention and Repairs

Skateboard Art

Wall damage from skateboard mounts can range from a small fixing hole to peeling paint or damaged plaster. Identify the surface and the cause before choosing a repair.

Document and remove the load

Photograph the wall and mount. Take the deck off an uncertain support so the problem is not made worse by rehanging.

Keep product instructions and any remaining fixings for reference.

Assess how the damage happened

A failed anchor, an unsuitable adhesive and a deck rubbing against the wall require different prevention measures.

Do not assume the wall was damaged because skateboard art is inherently heavier or more difficult than every other hanging object.

Repair for the surface

Painted plaster, plasterboard, masonry and wallpaper have different requirements. Follow the repair-material instructions and allow the stated preparation and drying process.

For structural damage, uncertain wall construction or a valuable finish, seek appropriate professional advice.

Prevent recurrence

Select a compatible mount and fixings. Provide the intended clearance and check nearby door movement or other contact.

A removable adhesive still needs the permitted surface and removal method; it is not a universal alternative to repairs.

Consider a rental

Record the condition and check tenancy arrangements before making further alterations. There is no single rule in this article that determines what every landlord will accept.

A repaired surface should be suitable before another installation is attempted. Hiding the damaged area behind the artwork does not resolve the support problem.
